Book Week 2012

August 21, 2012

Book Week is a week long celebration of literature and reading. It is run by the Children's Book Council of Australia. This presents the opportunity to appreciate books and indulge in numerous fun and games.

This can include book character dress up parades, book donations, author visits and workshops. All of these events help to make the week a very unique, colourful and fun celebration.

Each year the week is given a special book based theme. Champion's Read is this years theme. This event is the longest running children's festival in Australia. The CBCA also put up a shortlist of books which are awarded and recommended each year.

What's your favourite book and why is reading important you?

I have a long list of favourite books though I would have to say The Twilight Saga and The Hunger Games Trilogy. Because their both so captivating and jaw-dropping.

Reading is special to me because you can be taken into a completely different world, real or imaginary. Books take us on a journey, an adventure. A reason to escape our world and indulge in someone else's.
