Stacking The Shelves

September 30, 2012

Hey Guys,
As bookworms do, I have my head stuck in some amazing new books. So I would like to share with you my latest additions to my shelf. Today for the first time I am going to be doing a "Stacking the Shelves "post. This feature was created by Tynga from Tynga's Reviews.

The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett

'Mary is a tough feisty character, who manages to turn a whole household, and the lives of those in it, completely upside down... The book is brim full of magic and joy'  Sunday Telegraph

'''People never like me and I never like people,' Mary thought.'

When Mary Lennox is sent to Misselthwaite Manor to live with her uncle everybody says she is the most disagreeable-looking child ever seen. It is true, too. Mary is pale, spoilt and quite contrary. But she is also horribly lonely. Then one day she hears about a garden in the grounds of the Manor that has been kept locked and hidden for years. And when a friendly robin helps Mary find the key, she discovers the most magical place anyone could imagine...
Synopsis from Random House Site

The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter
EVERY GIRL WHO HAS TAKEN THE TEST HAS DIED.

NOW IT'S KATE'S TURN.

It's always been just Kate and her mom and her mother is dying. Her last wish? To move back to her childhood home. So Kate's going to start at a new school with no friends, no other family and the fear that her mother won't live past the fall.

Then she meets Henry. Dark. Tortured. And mesmerizing. He claims to be Hades, god of the Underworld--and if she accepts his bargain, he'll keep her mother alive while Kate tries to pass seven tests.

Kate is sure he's crazy--until she sees him bring a girl back from the dead. Now saving her mother seems crazily possible. If she succeeds, she'll become Henry's future bride and a goddess.

                                                  IF SHE FAILS...

Goddess Interrupted (Goddess Test #2) by Aimee Carter
Kate Winters has won immortality. But if she wants a life with Henry in the Underworld, she'll have to fight for it.

Becoming immortal wasn't supposed to be the easy part. Though Kate is about to be crowned Queen of the Underworld, she's as isolated as ever. And despite her growing love for Henry, ruler of the Underworld, he's becoming ever more distant and secretive. Then, in the midst of Kate's coronation, Henry is abducted by the only being powerful enough to kill him: the King of the Titans.

As the other gods prepare for a war that could end them all, it is up to Kate to save Henry from the depths of Tartarus. But in order to navigate the endless caverns of the Underworld, Kate must enlist the help of the one person who is the greatest threat to her future.

Henry's first wife, Persephone.

So that's all for now. I am really enjoying spending the holiday with a good book, especially since I have been wanting to read these books for a while. So far I have finished Goddess Test! It was so fabulous and I can't wait to start reading the second. Stay tuned for a Goddess Test Review. My sister is also hammering me to read "Skulduggery Pleasant, what do you think? I reckon I should give it a go.
