Monthly Round-Up (3) July

August 1, 2013

July has finished and it was a great reading month for myself. I managed to read 9 books this month, all of which were amazing. I think the most I've read this year was 7 books in february so I have beat my personal best for the year and I hope to keep doing so. 2 major factors in that number were my birthday which took place early this month and a short school holiday which also happened in July. I envy you people who have just gotten holidays, I sure do miss my sleep ins. Luckily having both a birthday and holiday at the same time mean't I could get books I had been highly anticipating and I had the time to read them. I wouldn't be able to pick a favourite because all 9 books were amazing, all which I really enjoyed. But a definite standout of the mix would be Ketchup Clouds by Annabel Pitcher, a original and compelling story that I rated 4.5 stars [Read my review here].  Last night I stayed up finishing City of Glass and I really enjoyed completing the 2nd and 3rd Mortal Instrument novels this month. I loved book one and the next 2 proved no different. I'm reading book 4 now and I just love that series.

Books I read in July
  1. Fractured by Terri Terry 4.5 Stars
  2. The Elite by Kiera Cass 4 Stars
  3. Of Triton 4 Stars
  4. This is What Happy Looks Like by Jennifer E Smith 4 Stars
  5. If I Stay by Gayle Forman 3.5 Stars
  6. Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi 4 Stars
  7. Ketchup Clouds by Annabel Pitcher 4.5 Stars
  8. City of Ashes 4.5 Stars
  9. City of Glass 5 Stars
Follower Count: Welcome and Thank you New Followers

I started with 152 GFC followers and ended the month with 159
I also reached 100 Bloglovin Followers

This month I got Twitter which in some ways a big mistake because I am so addicted. But if you haven't joined the bandwagon i'd definitely advice creating a account on Twitter because already i've gained so much from it. I've had so many hilarious conversations, chatted to authors and even made new friendships, I even have a Twitter family! Who would have thought that by joining twitter I'd soon have not only Lucy and Sophie as sisters, but Derek Landy and Holly Smale as Twitter parents. It's pretty cool. During July the Bloggy Awards officially began and i'm so flattered to have been nominated for "Nicest Blogger". Believe me when I say that it means a lot to me and I just want to give a big thanks to those lovely people that have voted for me. If you think I deserve this award then I really would appreciate it if you could scroll to the bottom of this post and vote for me. Thank you everyone and good luck to Eileen and Zoe who are also in the running.

August Goals:

This month should hopefully be a busy one as reading 9 book usually equals to a whole lot of reviews. I am also taking part in a campaign run by World Vision called the 40 Hour Famine and I'm sadly {but for a good cause} giving up phone and computer for 40 hours starting on the 16th. It's going to be hard as I'm constantly checking my phone and I struggled being banned for a day. So it should be interesting but I'm aiming to raise at least $50 for Malawi as is the rest of my School Representative Council. I'm hoping to reach 175-180 GFC followers and 115 Bloglovin followers. During August you can aslo stay tuned for some interviews which I have done on other blogs. This month is a busy one school wise so I'm hoping to read 6 maximum but we'll see how it goes.

Books I'm hoping to read this month:
  • City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare
  • City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare
  • Throne of Glass by Sarah J Mass
  • All I Ever Wanted by Vikki Wakefield
  • The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey
  • Anna and The French Kiss
  • Glass Houses by Rachel Caine
