Top Ten Tuesday: 2014 Releases I Meant To Read But Didn't Get To

January 13, 2015

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish, every Tuesday there is a different bookish theme for bloggers to participate in.
Because I missed so many 2014 releases, I'm splitting it into books released in 2014 that I own but haven't bothered to read and books I really should have bought and read that were released in 2014.  I don't think I've participated in one of these before so I thought it might be a nice change! Enjoy x
  1. City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare - I used to and probably still do, adore this series but for some reason I only read the first 100 pages before putting it down due to lack of interest. I'll have to pick it up some time soon.
  2. Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas - This is a series I no doubt adore but so much happened in the previous two that I don't remember so I'll have to have a re-read before continuing the series.
  3. We Were Liars by E. Lockhart - There is so much hype surrounding this contemporary but I read the first few chapters and was utterly confused. Did anyone else feel that way?
  4. Apple & Rain by Sarah Crossan - I've never read any Sarah Crossan books but this looks promising.
  5. Searching for Sky by Jillian Cantor - Started this and liked it but I don't think I read it with the right head space.
  1. This Shattered World by Amie Kaufman by Meagan Spooner -  I really enjoyed the first one but I'm not a sci-fi fan which always makes me anxious.
  2. Falling Into Place by Amy Zhang - This sounds amazing, will definitely be ordering it soon.
  3. FOUR by Veronica Roth - I enjoyed Divergent, so I'm surprised I haven't got around to this yet.
  4. Black Ice by Becca Fitzpatrick - Loved the Hush Hush series so I'm excited to see what else Becca Fitzpatrick has in store.
  5. The Geography of You & Me by Jennifer E. Smith - Her other books were awesome reads, I'm hoping this is no different.
What were some 2014 releases you didn't get to? Did you manage to read any of these?

  1. We Were Liars and City of Heavenly Fire are two of my all-time favorite reads! We Were Liars is very confusing in the beginning, I'll admit that. However, it begins to make a little more sense as it goes on. Honestly, after finishing it I'm still a little confused. It's worth all of the confusion, though, because it's a beautiful story.
I don't own any of the books you mentioned in the second collage, except for Four. Don't get too excited about it - I mean yeah, it's good. It's also really fun to learn about the past of Four, but it's boring. Going to be flat out honest. I didn't realize that until I finished the book, and thought, "Dang, that was good but reaaaalllyyy boring." Maybe it's just me :P
    - Cambrie @ and so the book begins

  3. I need to read City of Heavenly Fire too! The sheer size of it is making me weary though haha! I also really need to read We Were Liars but I hate going into books and not having quite a good idea of what they're about, but I'll have to try it sometime! Great list! x

  4. I have the TGoY&M on my shelf but haven't picked it up. As it's contemporary/chick-lit, I'm waiting to be in the right mood for it. Otherwise, I'll probably be a little disappointed. :/

& I actually really enjoyed City of Heavenly Fire although I haven't liked a couple of the books in the series. :P

  7. I loved We Were Liars but it does have an element of confusion, plus the main character herself has muddled memories, so I think the confusion is intentional! And I just read Falling into Place and loved it!
