This post will mark the first of my Goodbye 2014 and Hello 2015 posts.
It's the end of another year meaning it's time to reflect on what was, and get excited about what's to come. It's the time to make new years resolutions, only to have them broken within the first weeks of January. But hey, we all do it! For me and other bloggers though, the end of the year is when we reminisce on all the books we read during it. The good, the bad and the ugly.
As great as 2014 was, reading wise it was a strong disappointment. I didn't even read half the amount I did last year and this annoys me greatly. After successfully surpassing my goal of 50 books and reading 100 books in 2013, I felt hopeful I could do it again this year, I was wrong. So to save myself from further disappointment, earlier this month I changed my target to 50 books. Easy enough right? Not.
Anyway whinging aside, I'm hoping that 2015 will be better. It's a new year, I'll be on holiday and have time to read, I've got a job that I can use to pay for books and.. there are some awesome 2015 releases coming up (which I will be highlighting soon). But I've also got a big year of schooling coming up so I've decided to set my 2015 goodreads reading challenge to 50 books. Here are some books I've been dying to get my hands on, and hope will be included in that 50.
- All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven
- To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han
- #Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso
- Falling Into Place by Amy Zhang
- The Mara Dyer Series by Michelle Hodkin
- Breaking the Rules by Katie McGarry
7. Golden by Jessi Kirby
8. Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson
9. Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson
8. Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson
9. Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson
10. Cinder by Marissa Meyer
11. The Darkest Minds Series by Alexandra Bracken
12. The Manifesto On How To Be Interesting by Holly Bourne
13. The Legend Series by Marie Lu
14. The Unearthly Series by Cynthia Hand
What are some books you'd like to read in 2015?
Ohh Sunny, 35 books is still a lot! Especially if you've been in a reading slump!(:
ReplyDeleteI read, To all the Boys I've Loved Before, Mara Dyer, and The Darkest Minds (from your list), and surprisingly enough, I didn't enjoy any of them. I found, To All the Boys I've Loved Before to have been executed extremely poorly. The writing wasn't impressive, and I couldn't stand the protagonist. Mara Dyer is an alright series - I only read the first two. Once again, it wasn't my cup of tea. The Darkest Minds is one of my least favorite books, and awkwardly, I seem to be one of the only people that think so /:
Eeep - The Legend series has been on my TBR forever! I hope you get your hands on all of these books, and that 2015 proves to be a better reading year!
- Cambrie @ and so the book begins
Thanks Cambrie! That's interesting. I guess much like what you said, not everything can be everyones cup of tea! Hopefully we both read and enjoy Legend, I'm interested to hear what you think. Have a great year x
DeleteThere's a couple books you've mentioned here that I want to read in 2015 too. Mainly The Darkest Minds. Been wanting to read that for the longest time! :O
ReplyDeleteYes, The Darkest Minds is a priority of mine. I've been hearing an endless bundle of love for that series.
DeleteI'm FINALLY reading Cinder, and I'm really loving it. I want to read the two Morgan Matson books you noted as well...I read and loved her first novel.

ReplyDelete- Juhina @ Maji Bookshelf
Hi Juhina!
DeleteOMG I'm so excited for All the Bright Places, the hype is so big!! It's being compared to the likes of TFIOS and Eleanor and Park but apparently lives up to it. Hope 2015 is an epic year for you and your sister x
You've got some fantastic reads ahead of you Sunny - especially those Morgan Matson novels, Golden, Falling Into Place, The Darkest Minds trilogy and All The Bright Places! It can be disappointing when we don't reach our reading goals, but it helps to remember that blogging/reading are things we do because we want to - and sometimes life or other circumstances can get in the way! Best wishes for the year ahead in 2015, lets hope it's a great one :)
ReplyDeleteEugenia @ Genie In A Book
Thanks Eugenia! I'm really glad you enjoyed so many of those on my list, it just makes me even more desperate to read them all. I really enjoyed meeting you (even if somewhat briefly) this year, so I hope we can talk more at future 2015 events.
DeleteI have read the Mara Dyer series and the Legend series and they are great. I have All the bright places on my TBR for 2015. I have heard great things about it!
ReplyDeleteHi Cynthia!
DeleteMy friends adore the Mara Dyer and Legend series so it's always great to hear from others that they feel the same. OMG words can't explain how excited I am for All The Bright Places, it's meant to be amazing, Thanks for stopping by.
YESS I am so glad to see the Legend series and Cinder on here Sunny! I really love both of them. I have a feeling you will love To All the Boys I've Loved as well, it's a perfect YA contemporary.
ReplyDeleteYA contemporaries are my favourite and I love the plot so I can't wait to read, To All the Boys I loved before! So glad you enjoyed Legend & Cinder. Thanks for stopping by Jeann!
DeleteGood luck with your reading this year :) I understand being disappointed but at the end of the day reading is for fun and it's all about doing what you can :)
