Monthly Roundup (2): May

May 31, 2013

It's time for a monthly round-up and June is here. In May I shamefully only read 4 books. But I was in a bit of a reading slump and for some reason this month I was just not bothered to do anything. Which kinda sucked because not only did I have review books and overdue loans, but tests and assignments.

 -  Clockwork Princess: 5 stars -  Of Poseidon: 4.5 stars  - Will Grayson, Will Grayson: 4 stars  - The Originals: 4.5 stars

During the last week of April I was introduced to The Infernal Devices which I heart-breakingly had to say goodbye to this month - and boy what a journey it was. If you haven't read this series, then my God what have you been doing with your life!!! Clockwork Princess while leaving me with some mixed emotions at the end, had me laughing, smiling and sobbing rivers. A perfect conclusion to the best series and definitely my favourite read of May.

This month I really wanted to branch out and get in contact with more publishers. I kinda went on a rampage and sent emails to different publishers. And (yes I know your not mean't to start a sentence with And, but who the hell cares) I'm so happy I did. So far i've received replies and swapped details with Penguin Teen and Bloomsbury, but I want to give a big thanks to Jen @ Hardie Grant Egmont for sending me some awesome early releases. I was so thrilled to receive my package and from the two books I've read from them so far, Of Poseidon and The Originals, They have been absolutely fantastic.

I want to tell you about my newest addiction, which is The Teen Bloggers group on Goodreads. I'm a moderator of this group along with 4 other lovelies and it has just been the best thing ever. I'm constantly checking my notifications to see what new discussions have come up with teenage bloggers who I feel I can call friend. I think i've gained at least 10 new followers and a bunch of smiles. So please join but if you aren't a teenage blogger then please don't bother (no offence there have just been to many joining), sorry! With this group we also have a monthly group read and last month it was Will Grayson Will Grayson (a great pick and one I really enjoyed) and this month it's The Great Gatsby.

Followers at the beginning of May: Around 120 (I think)

Ended May with: 145 followers (Thank you)

This month I also participated in my first blog tour, for Kate Maryon's new book Invisible Girl and went to The Sydney's Writers Festival.

June Goals:

In June I would like to reach 155-160 followers

 I hope to Read:
- Hunger by Michael Grant
- Harry Potter and The Philosphers Stone by J.K Rowling
- The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald
- Lies by Michael Grant
-  Seventeen and Gone by Nova Ren Suma

- Eleanor and Park (Hopefully reading with Ruby)
- The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

This June be sure to stop The Bookstop for Dystopian Month, it's gonna be great. Also plz check out these two awesome book blogs, My Crazy Bookish World and Reading Around the Lines.

My Question: I love feedback and I'd love to know what you would like to see more of. I feel like I'm always posting reviews and I'm trying to come up with a few posts that will interest non readers, suggestions? Plz tell me what you like and what I could change?

Now that it's the summer hols I am planning to re-read the whole series and maybe even watch the movies, too. :)

  6. I had reading slump too but luckily it didn't last long cause I re-read one of my favorite books. I think you should re-read some scenes you liked in your favorite books to boost the mood. :) I haven't read TID but hopefully if my friend finds her copy, I can borrow it from her!

  12. Ooh, a teen blogging group? Count me in! I actually just finished The Great Gatsby yesterday. It was a pretty good book! Hope you love it, Sunny. :) I didn't even read four books last month, so don't feel ashamed! I was drowning in finals and projects and all that torturous stuff. But hopefully, now that I'm on vacation, I can get to reading!
