'What's Up Buttercup?!' (1): A recap of sorts

October 18, 2013

Hi Guys,
Today I want to introduce a new feature to the blog. This feature is called "What's Up Buttercup?!" and is basically a what's been happening of late sorta post. I thought it would be a nice way to update you guys on some of the things I've been doing or obsessing over. I'd love to know what you guys have been enjoying lately as well.
I just finished 'Anna and The French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins' and I can not explain to you how much I enjoyed it. I'm tempted to write a review for it but I feel I wouldn't be able to do it justice. I have had my overdue copy on my shelf for ages! I'd always wanted to read it but for some reason I was hesitant to, but after the lovely Vivienne convinced me I had to.. I knew it was time {Thank You}. I'm personally a sucker for a good contemporary and a even better romance, they are the type of novels I devour and fortunately for me Anna and The French Kiss was one of them. I read it in one day and it left me with a massive book hangover and let me tell you, Étienne St. Clair is perfection. That French, English, American is now one of my top 5 favourite book boyfriends of all time! I couldn't ship him & Anna more.

This week I also bought a Divergent box set (sadly not including Allegiant) and decided it was time to give it another go. A few of you would know that my original experience with Divergent wasn't as grand as most but that's not to say I didn't like it. When I first read it months ago, my expectations were so high and I at the time felt whilst it was really good.. that it wasn't all it was lived up to be. But I decided to give it a re-read and I loved it! I now agree with everyone who raves about it and I was so surprised with how much more I enjoyed it second time round. I then of course read Insurgent which I also loved and omg, that ending! Thank god I have less then a week to wait until Allegiant is out! I am also extremely pleased to tell that I'll be attending a launch party for Allegiant next wednesday run by the wonderful people at Harper Collins. I am counting down the days and I'm super pumped for it, I am hoping to write a post all about the event and of course a Allegiant review.

Anyway, next I am planning on reading 'The Lost Girl by Michael Adams'. I was provided this review copy a while ago from the lovely people at Allen and Unwin and I'm really interested to read it as it sounds really cool and I love that it's set in Sydney. I have so many review books at the moment and I also have a bunch of yearly exams coming up. I'm so behind and I'm finding it a bit stressful to catch up. But I'm hoping that I can get it all done and then go back to focusing on what I enjoy best, reading and blogging. Lately I've also been loving watching the new Walking Dead and The Vampire Diaries episodes, I live for those shows. I hope you've liked this post and if you do, hopefully I'll post one in coming weeks.

Have a great weekend!

  3. Aw, that's a pity that you didn't like Divergent as much as other people at first. The same thing happened with me and The Hunger Games. Though I still do love the Hunger Games, I just don't enjoy it as much as other people.
    (p.s. cool feature!)

  6. It's such a good thing you reread Divergent! I think it's worth the hype. :)

I have Anna and the French Kiss, and I have a good feeling about it. I have a thing for good contemporary romance.

  9. AN ALLEGIANT LAUNCH PARTY? You are so lucky! I'm really excited for the final novel, and think Veronica Roth will be able to wrap-up the series well but, not before dragging me through every possible emotion! I'm glad you enjoyed the first two books - I loved them when I read them last year too! Have a great weekend too, Sunny!
Oh, I'm also really liking this new feature! :)

The same thing that happened to you with Divergent, happened to me with Matched (by Ally Condie). The first time I read it, I only liked it, but the second time I loved it! Twas strange to say the least!

OHMYGOD, YOU'RE GOING TO AN ALLEGIANT LAUNCH PARTY?! Sorry to inform you but you must smuggle me in too! You don't have a choice in the matter! ;) Eeeeek - can't wait for the recap of that event! xD

  12. I loved Anna and the French Kiss too...one of my favorite contemporaries! Glad you loved Divergent after trying it again, I can't believe Allegiant's release is almost here. Oh, and I love Vampire Diaries and so far this season has been great. Like the new feature! ~Pam

  13. Hey Sunny! I love this feature. Mind if I participate also? I am so glad you liked the Divergent series the second time through!!!! ALLEGIANT IS BEING RELEASED IN LIKE FOUR HOURS!!!! AHHHHH! So if you want to participate in my new meme, Comment War Monday, go ahead and take a look. It should be one of my most recent posts. The question is this:
What are the top ten things you want or don't want to happen in Allegiant? Which characters do you think will not make it to the end of the series?

And also, if you have not already seen the first review of Allegiant, CHECK IT OUT. It makes me so nervous! Apparently a lot of important characters die.
