2 Diva's Bookish Discussions (7): Allegiant Launch Party Recap!

October 27, 2013

Introduction -
Hi, we're Francoise and Sunny and we have known each other since our nappy days. We're constantly having rants and raves about the latest books and bookish news. This is a fortnightly discussion that you can find on both of our blogs, so please make sure to stop by both blogs as our written content is different, although on the same topic. Our posts are not intended to offend anyone or anything but this is just our opinions and we would love it if you would share your thoughts in the comments. Enjoy!

On Wednesday October 28th despite it being a horrible spring day weather wise (temperatures got to around 32 degrees) something awesome happened.. ALLEGIANT CAME OUT! Now just in case you’ve been living under a rock, Allegiant is the third and final installment in the best-selling and extremely popular series, Divergent by Veronica Roth. With a upcoming movie adaptation starring Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Ansel Elgort and Kate Winslet - to name a few, coming out next april. Now having only participated in a re-read a week before Allegiant’s release, I was a buzz with excitement. So I was literally counting down the days for the Allegiant Launch Party run by Harper Collins which I had been invited to.

Now I know that Francoise and I haven’t been posting our discussions fortnightly as promised and that this doesn't really fit under a discussion. But I promise you we are planning to continue with ‘Two Diva’s Bookish Discussions’ because it’s something we really enjoy writing. We write these because we love when you guys really take part in them and share your opinions with us. If you have any suggestions or ideas on what we should discuss next, let us know. Now let's get back to the launch..

The event started at 5:30 in Dymocks on a busy and hot afternoon in the city. Not much after I arrived I was chatting to Lana, Vivienne, Jaz from Fiction in Fiction in Fiction, Mandee from Vegan YA Nerds, and of course Francoise. It was really lovely to see and meet everyone and we were all excited for Allegiant but also nervous after all of the reviews and spoilers out on the web. Shortly after the event began once everyone had collected a goody bag and faction cupcake.

The launch began with some Divergent talk and then a Divergent Trivia. There were ten questions and whoever put their hand up first was picked. If you answered a question correctly you could go on the stage and pick a prize pack. It was really fun and there was definitely a lot of competitiveness in the room, I knew I had to win a prize. I was surprised with how easily I knew the answers and after a girl stuffed up, I was chosen to answer the name of the five factions: Abnegation, Dauntless, Candor, Amity and Erudite. After answering correctly I was then able to select a prize from the stage. I chose these two lovely Harper Collins books, All The Truth That's in Me by Julie Berry and Spellcaster by Claudia Gray.

There was then more talk and a unseen before quote from Allegiant and some prizes were rewarded to those best dressed in faction colours. That pretty much drew the nights end. But Francoise, Vivienne, Jaz, Lana and Shirley and myself stayed a while longer, taking a look at the lovely selection of books Dymocks had and talking bookish things. I bought a copy of Allegiant for myself and my friend at the event and also brought her home a goody bag. I still can't get over how amazing the good bags were and luckily since 2 of my sister's also attended, I managed to get extras. They included a Allegiant t-shirt, poster, post cards, faction badges, a divergent film poster and a letter from Veronica Roth *IKR*!

It was a really awesome night, enjoyed by all and you could tell how much effort was put in by the lovely people at Harper Collins. I really want to say thank you to the Harper Collins team and of course Amanda. I finished Allegiant and I don't want to scare anyone like I did on twitter but let's just say I am eternally crying. DM me on twitter if you've read it, so we cry together. But go read it anyway! Anyway, sorry for the horrible formatting of this post but it's quite hard to fit all the photos in without it looking messy. Go check out what Francoise thought of the event on her blog. Oh and for the record, I'm Amity! Happy Reading!

  1. This sounds so cool! Are you in Australia? Or UK? The cover for All the Truth is something I've seen in UK anyway! But that's so cool. I would kill for that cover poster. I have the US one which is pretty much generic now ;) Though I have to admit that question was super easy. I feel like the ending of A will kill me so I have yet to read it.
